For 11 seasons, Cam Newton played quarterback in the NFL, mostly for the Carolina Panthers, and he was perhaps one of the more underrated signal-callers of this era.

He won the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2011 and claimed the regular-season MVP award in 2015, and he was one of the more athletically gifted players in the league.

Newton hasn’t played since the 2021 season, and he said on the “4thand1show” that he will not play football again, as he realizes no team will take a chance on him.

Newton made his mark as a mercurial player who was an effective dual-threat QB after he was the No. 1 pick in the 2011 draft.

With the help of stars such as linebacker Luke Kuechly and tight end Greg Olsen, he helped make the Panthers into winners after just a few short years.

In the 2015 season, the Panthers rang up a 15-1 record with the help of the NFL’s top scoring offense, but they lost to Peyton Manning’s Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl, as Newton completed just 18 of 41 passes and had zero touchdown passes.

Since his retirement, Newton has made appearances in different forms of media, and he has ruffled some feathers with some of his takes on players, especially quarterbacks, across the league.

A few months ago, he said that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, and Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff were mere “game managers.”

More recently, he gave Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice a stern warning after Rice was involved in a car crash that has resulted in him facing eight felony charges.
