The field of eight for the Davis Cup Finals knockout rounds in Malaga, Spain is set following the conclusion of group-stage competition on Sunday.
In Group D, Canada needed to win just a single rubber in its closing tie against Great Britain. The visitors wasted no time accomplishing that task on the indoor hard courts of Manchester. Denis Shapovalov defeated Dan Evans 6-0, 7-5 to take the suspense out of it before Felix Auger-Aliassime clinched the tie with a 7-6(8), 7-5 victory over Jack Draper. The Canadians, who lifted the Davis Cup trophy in 2022, finished atop Group D with a 3-0 record. Argentina compiled a 2-1 mark and is also headed to Malaga.
Group A saw the Netherlands get across the finish line on its last chance. Like the Canadians, the Dutch needed to take only one rubber on Sunday. They lost each of the two singles matches against Italy, however, before Wesley Koolhof and Botic van de Zandschulp saved the day with a 7-6(6), 7-5 win over Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. That eliminated Brazil, while the Italians had already secured their place in the quarterfinals.
The entire quarterfinal lineup is Canada, Argentina, Italy, the Netherlands, the United States, Germany, Spain, and Australia.
Starting with the quarterfinals, the knockout rounds will be played November 19-24.
