Canada Eyeing Former Man United Managers Solskjaer and Mourinho – Latest Man United News and Transfer Updates

Former Man United managers Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jose Mourinho on Canada's radar - Man United News And Transfer News

Erik ten Hag is not the most popular figure in Manchester right now despite Manchester United winning two games on the bounce, including a crucial FA Cup semi-final tie at Wembley.

Man United were overwhelming favourites heading into the games against both Coventry City and Sheffield United, and yet they were made to work hard both times. Their playing style has been underwhelming all season, but now Ten Hag is under the microscope more than ever.

While the current United boss may not be on the good books of many, former Reds appear to be in demand.

Ralf Rangnick is in talks with Bayern Munich to replace Thomas Tuchel, who is set to depart the Bavarian outfit come the end of the season. The former United interim boss is currently leading the Austria national team.

Now, it is being reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also received a knock on his door.

As per Standard, the former United gaffer has been contacted by Canada about leading them “into the 2026 World Cup.”

Canada, who are co-hosting the upcoming World Cup, have approached multiple managers to shape their squad for the big event. However, whether Solskjaer would entertain the opportunity remains unknown.

The Norwegian has been out of work since departing United in 2021 and has shown no desperation to return to the limelight.

Reputed United journalist Andy Mitten reported earlier this month that Solskjaer was approached by the Republic of Ireland national team back in January, but “decided it wouldn’t be right for him.”

Meanwhile, Canada’s ambitious hunt for a new manager has also seen them offer Jose Mourinho, another former United man, a chance to interview for the role.

However, Mourinho “politely” turned down the opportunity as he aims to manage another top club in Europe.

The Portuguese, who led United to League Cup and Europa League triumphs between 2016 and 2018, was most recently in charge of coaching AS Roma.
