Few teams in the NFL have had a tougher schedule than the Arizona Cardinals to start the 2024 NFL regular season, with Kyler Murray and company having to go head-to-head with the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams, Detroit Lions, Washington Commanders and San Francisco 49ers.

Although the Cardinals are sporting a losing record after five weeks at 2-3, the team is coming off an impressive win over the division-rival 49ers and might see some light at the end of the tunnel despite losses to the Bills, Lions and Commanders.

One thing the Cardinals need is to stay healthy in order to remain in the playoff picture this season because the last few years have been brutal, especially for Murray, who has struggled to stay on the field due to injuries.

That said, the team losing offensive lineman Will Hernandez to an injury is not a great development for Murray and the Cardinals, as the team announced on its X account that he had been placed on injured reserve while elevating Charlie Heck to the active roster from the practice squad.

The NFC West division seems completely unpredictable at this point, with the Rams and 49ers failing to live up to expectations, while the Seattle Seahawks and Cardinals have shown promise in the first five weeks.

That said, the race for the division title is wide-open, especially if the 49ers can’t get back on track as one of the best all-around teams in the NFL.

The Cardinals can make some noise if they can play consistently well from here on out.
