Carragher Provides Insight into His Sympathy for Ten Hag

Manchester United Have Been Poor This Season

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has expressed sympathy for Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who is facing immense pressure due to the club’s poor performance and uncertainty surrounding his future.

Erik ten Hag Is Under Immense Pressure at Manchester United

Ten Hag led Manchester United to a third-place finish in his debut season in charge in 2022-23. However, the team’s eighth-place finish last season was disappointing, despite winning the FA Cup. The current season has not started well for Man Utd, as they are currently 14th in the Premier League with just eight points from seven games, their worst start in history.

In addition, the team has struggled in the UEFA Europa League, sitting in 21st place after two draws. Speculation about Ten Hag’s future has grown, with reports suggesting he could be dismissed before the season ends.

Jamie Carragher Feels Sorry for Erik ten Hag

Carragher predicts that Ten Hag may not survive beyond the upcoming international break as manager of Manchester United. He believes that the team’s poor performances, not just results, are a major concern. Carragher also sympathizes with Ten Hag, highlighting that the manager was put in a tough spot by the club’s ownership talking to other managers during the summer.

According to reports, Manchester United’s owners held discussions with Thomas Tuchel before extending Ten Hag’s contract. With the uncertainty surrounding Ten Hag’s future, Tuchel could once again be a candidate for the managerial position at the club.
