Manchester United’s poor form has carried over onto the new season with the club losing two out of three Premier League games and are currently languishing in 14th place.
Casemiro was at fault for two of the three goals conceded against arch-rivals Liverpool with many pundits coming down hard on the Brazilian for his poor form since last term.
While the player feels he has been unfairly singled out, INEOS remain open to moving him on with the decision being taken that this is likely to be his final season in red.
The Red Devils had even agreed a loan exit to Turkiye after the Liverpool defeat but the 32-year-old had turned down the opportunity and had made it clear that he would only leave if the club forced him out.
Casemiro rejects move
Football Insider have now claimed that with the Turkish window closing on Friday, Galatasaray had returned with another attempt late on Thursday but the Brazil international’s stance remained the same.
“Man United midfielder Casemiro rejected a loan move to Galatasaray late on Thursday, sources have told Football Insider.
“The 32-year-old had initially agreed to join the Turkish giants after they had agreed the terms of a loan deal with United.
“But Casemiro then changed his mind at the eleventh hour and is now set to stay at Old Trafford beyond the closure of the Turkish window, which shuts later on Friday.”
Even though the five-time Champions League winner is staying, there is no guarantee he will start the game against Southampton on Saturday.
Pressure on Casemiro increasing
The clamour to hand summer recruit Manuel Ugarte his debut against the Saints is growing by the minute with the midfielder impressing on international duty.
But Ten Hag has to be careful so as to not create a rift by dropping Casemiro now amid the pressure after claiming the new Uruguayan recruit needs time to adapt to his new surroundings.
The Brazilian needs to up his game and somehow recapture the form he displayed in his debut campaign in England or else he might fall further down the pecking order with academy ace Toby Collyer knocking on the door.
A positional change for Casemiro has been put forward as a solution by former club legends and it will be interesting to see how the manager goes about solving this conundrum.
