Shams Charania from FanDuelTV anticipates an active role for the Boston Celtics in the trade market. The focus is on strengthening their bench before the February 8 trade deadline.

Despite maintaining control over the majority of their future first-round picks, the Celtics face limitations in matching salaries for trades. This is primarily due to the fact that many of Boston’s higher-salaried players play crucial roles in the team’s rotation.

However, Brad Stevens has a $6.2 million trade exception at his disposal, which could be utilized for acquiring a lower-salaried player. Another option for the Celtics is to combine the salaries of multiple minimum-salary players to facilitate a trade.
