Champions Cup Rewind: Nashville SC, FC Cincinnati breeze to Round of 16

Two additional places in the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup Round of 16 have been determined.

Nashville SC and FC Cincinnati clinched their spots in emphatic style on Wednesday night following respective second leg shutout wins.

Forster Ajago scored twice for Gary Smith’s squad while McKinze Gaines also found the back of the net in a 4-0 triumph. Elliot Panicco made one save to preserve a clean sheet in a rare start.

Gaines struck first for Nashville SC in the 13th minute, finishing off Alex Muyl’s cross down the center of the Moca FC net.

Ajago delivered his first goal for the club in the 38th minute, making it 2-0 before a Richard Dabas own goal extended the hosts lead before halftime.

Ajago added his second goal of the night in the 53rd minute, scoring from close-range to cap off his Man of the Match showing. Despite having an 83rd minute penalty kick saved, Ajago will have plenty of confidence heading into the Round of 16.

Nashville SC will now meet Lionel Messi and Inter Miami in the next round.

FC Cincinnati 4, Cavalier FC 0 (FC Cincy advances 6-0 on aggregate)
