NBA legend Charles Barkley took aim at New York City during a rant amid discussions surrounding Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals between the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers.
While Barkley admitted to having no personal favorite in the series, he expressed a desire to see either team face the Boston Celtics in the conference finals, predicting a decisive defeat for the Knicks or Pacers.
“If the Knicks win that’ll be good,” Barkley said on Inside the NBA. “I don’t care who wins, but will tell you what. I would love to see them get their ass stomped by the Celtics. That’d be great… Whoever wins this series going to get stomped by the Celtics…
“New Yorkers y’all deserve it Cuz y’all think y’all the greatest thing since sliced bread… Y’all ain’t that good in New York. Y’all overrated. Just cuz y’all make good pizza and good bagels… crime…
“I ain’t going to say anything about the street meat. I love the street meat… I don’t care what kind of meat it is either, it tastes good. Rat, dog, cat, skunk, racoon, it tastes good. Just put that white sauce on it.”
The Knicks currently hold a commanding 2-0 series lead against the Pacers.
