Charles Barkley on Zion Williamson: I’d make serious sacrifices for that amount of money

NBA legend Charles Barkley continues to advocate for Zion Williamson to lose weight and improve his shape.

In a recent episode of Club Shay Shay hosted by Shannon Sharpe, Barkley stressed the importance of getting in shape during summer and not attempting to do that during the season because it won’t work.

His remark came in response to reports that Williamson lost 25 pounds this season. He should have done in summer, Barkley insisted.

“I like Zion a lot… but the sooner he gets in shape, the better he’s gonna be,” the Hall of Famer said, via Preston Byers of ClutchPoints. “I don’t know him, but I try to tell him that on television and I hope he hears it and doesn’t take it as a criticism, ’cause he’s got so much talent and you can’t get in shape during the season. You get in shape during the summer.”

Barkley also wondered, how a player like Zion, who makes around $36 million per season, struggles to find motivation and get in shape.

“Listen, I got in shape for $2 million. The money these guys are making today, I’d be damn near anorexic for $35, $40 million a year,” he said.
