Chelsea in pursuit of ex-Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira – Updates on Man United News and Transfers

Chelsea chasing former Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have raised north of £35 million in sales this summer alone, thanks to their academy talents.

Alvaro Fernandez became United’s first sale of the window after Benfica decided to trigger a buy option to make his loan transfer permanent in a £5.1m deal plus an additional £2.6m in potential add-ons.

Willy Kambwala recently joined Villarreal who have reportedly agreed to pay £4.6m plus £5m in add-ons for the young centre-back. Meanwhile, Mason Greenwood has also completed his move to Olympique de Marseille after the French giants reached an agreement over a deal worth £26.6m.

Now, United could bag an additional £7m, albeit not through their own transfer decision but Fulham’s.

According to Brazilian outlet Globo, Chelsea have opened talks to sign Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira.

The Brazilian moved to Craven Cottage in 2022 from Old Trafford for a fee of around £10m.

In the last two seasons, the former United academy talent has enjoyed a resurgence in form, impressing fans and pundits alike with his creativity and ability while taking set-pieces.

It is understood Chelsea are looking to sell Conor Gallagher and see Pereira as an ideal option to replace the England international.

The Blues are thought to be in contact with Pereira’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, to explore the possibility of signing the Brazilian.

Their new head coach Enzo Maresca has already given his approval for Pereira’s arrival.

Globo add that Chelsea are willing to spend as much as £35m to find an agreement with Fulham for the 28-year-old midfielder, who is also attracting interest from AS Monaco.

Pereira’s move to Stamford Bridge or elsewhere for a similar fee could see United earn north of £5m as according to The Athletic, United included a 20 per cent sell-on clause into the deal with Fulham.

The Red Devils themselves are in the market for a new midfielder and any extra fund has the potential to strengthen their pursuit amid financial fair play concerns.
