Chelsea reaches out to Crystal Palace regarding potential signing of winger Michael Olise – Latest updates from Manchester United’s transfer dealings

Michael Olise: David Ornstein gives hint on where Man United target may end up as interest mounts - Man United News And Transfer News

Chelsea have reportedly contacted Crystal Palace about signing Michael Olise.

According to David Ornstein, Chelsea have asked for permission to discuss personal terms with the player’s representatives.

Bayern Munich and Newcastle United have also expressed interest in Olise, while Manchester United and Manchester City remain keen on the talented playmaker.

The 22 year old came close to joining Chelsea last summer but chose to stay at Selhurst Park, signing a new four-year contract.

This new deal included a release clause of around £60 million, which Chelsea are prepared to meet.

Olise joined Crystal Palace from Reading in 2021 and had a standout 2023-24 season under new manager Oliver Glasner, scoring 10 goals in 19 appearances despite missing 18 games due to a recurring hamstring injury.

His impressive form has caught the attention of several top clubs, making him a hot commodity in the transfer market.

In the 2022-23 season, Olise was a key player for Palace, featuring in all but one league match and contributing two goals and 11 assists, the fourth-highest in the Premier League that season.

His performances earned him a spot in France Under-23 head coach Thierry Henry’s preliminary squad for this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris.

From a Man United perspective, Olise’s potential move to Chelsea could be seen as a missed opportunity.

His creativity and goal-scoring ability would be a valuable addition to United’s attacking options.

The interest from Bayern and Newcastle further complicates the situation, with both clubs capable of offering competitive deals.

The outcome of this transfer saga could have significant implications for United’s transfer strategy.

With strong interest from multiple top clubs, United may need to act swiftly if they wish to secure Olise’s services.
