If the Kansas City Chiefs are going to make history this coming season and win an unprecedented third straight Super Bowl championship, they will need their young players to step up on the offensive side of the football.
That is especially true for their wide receivers, none of whom are established stars.
While they signed Marquise Brown this offseason, he isn’t the type of big-time threat who could single-handedly carry them, a la Tyreek Hill, their former alpha wideout until two years ago.
The team recently posted a video of quarterback Patrick Mahomes connecting with wideout Rashee Rice during its mandatory minicamp on its official Twitter account.

Of the Chiefs’ young wide receivers, Rice has by far the best chance of becoming a legitimate star.
As a rookie last year, he caught 79 passes and collected 938 yards and seven touchdowns.
His ascension would also help prevent opposing defenses from keying on tight end Travis Kelce, who is still arguably the best in the business but will turn 35 years of age in October.
However, Rice has a big off-the-field obstacle to overcome if he is to become a legitimate star, and it is an obstacle he created himself.
Earlier this offseason in Texas, he crashed his Lamborghini, causing multiple other vehicles to crash into his car, and he is facing eight felony charges as a result.
Even if he is ultimately found not guilty of all charges, he could end up getting suspended by the league for his involvement in the incident, and such a suspension could have an impact on how the Chiefs do this coming season.
