Cade Cowell is expected to make a return to action with Liga MX Chivas de Guadalajara this weekend.
Cowell, who had been sidelined for the past month due to a muscular injury, returned to training on Tuesday. The U.S. men’s national team forward last played at the club level on August 31 before missing the next five matches.
Cowell had a strong start to the season, winning the Liga MX Player of the Month award for July. He scored three goals and provided one assist in four appearances, contributing to Chivas’ two wins and one draw during that period.
However, Chivas struggled in Cowell’s absence, losing three out of five matches.
Cowell, who played in both of the USMNT’s September friendlies, was unable to participate in Mauricio Pochettino’s first window as head coach.
Chivas will be back in action in Liga MX on Saturday against Pachuca.
