In sports, there are certain iconic franchises that almost transcend the league or sport they play in, and they have earned that status by achieving tremendous success over the years.

With that status comes immense expectations for the present, but some of those franchises simply haven’t been able to recapture their old glory for a long time.

One of them is the Dallas Cowboys, who haven’t won the Super Bowl championship since the 1995 season.

Chris Broussard said on FS1’s “First Things First” when commenting on running back Ezekiel Elliott returning to the team that it will always be “Super Bowl or bust” for the Cowboys.

Elliott left the Cowboys after the 2022 campaign, and he spent last season with the moribund New England Patriots.

With or without him, the Cowboys have had one of the NFL’s most talented rosters for the last few years, but they have nothing to show for it, as they haven’t been able to advance past the divisional round of the playoffs.

In fact, they haven’t gotten past the divisional round since 1995, the last time they earned the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

The Cowboys have brazenly embraced their nickname of “America’s Team” and have an outspoken owner in the controversial Jerry Jones, which only adds to the pressure and expectations they have to deal with.

They have had what many have called a disappointing offseason, but they’re looking to create enough salary cap space in order to hand out big extensions to quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and pass rusher Micha Parsons.
