Christmas is almost here, and many people are in full giving mode right now.

Many sports teams practice the act of having players give each other gifts, and some go above and beyond by gifting teammates with extravagant items, even when coaches impose a spending limit.

Reportedly, Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes gave each of his offensive linemen golf carts that were customized with their names and jersey numbers.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones joked that his contract doesn’t allow him to give golf carts as presents, per Aaron Ladd.

Even though the Chiefs have won two Super Bowl championships in the previous four seasons, their defense hasn’t attracted lots of attention.

However, Jones has been integral to both of those Super Bowl wins, as he has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of the last four seasons.

During training camp this year, he held out, as he was looking for a lucrative contract extension, and as a result, he missed the team’s Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Days later, he agreed to a one-year contract worth nearly $20 million, and while it is a fairly lucrative deal, especially among defensive linemen, it doesn’t compare to Mahomes’ monstrous contract extension.

With the Chiefs struggling to find a legitimate offensive threat who isn’t dating Taylor Swift, their defense has stepped up, as it ranks fourth in total yards allowed and third in points allowed.

With a 9-5 record, the team is looking to improve its seeding ahead of the start of the playoffs.
