Christian Eriksen Faces Criticism After Lackluster Performance in Denmark’s Victory – Latest News on Man United’s Transfer Rumors

Christian Eriksen confirms this will be his last season at Manchester United - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has come under fire after delivering a frustrating performance for Denmark.

Goals from Albert Gronbaek and Yussuf Poulsen helped Denmark convincingly beat Serbia 2-0 in their Nations League A Group 4 clash, cementing the side’s place at the top of the group with two wins in the opening two games.

While Poulsen earned plenty of plaudits for creating the first goal and then doubling Denmark’s lead with a bicycle kick, the local media were left unimpressed by Eriksen’s display.

Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet wrote the veteran midfielder had a “match to forget” before handing him a 3/10 rating.

Their post-match report read: “How rusty he looks. Eriksen is usually the offensive focal point, but now you have the feeling that it is coming to a standstill.

“Wasted turnovers and simply too many wrong decisions. The lack of playing time at Manchester United leaves its mark.”

As per Sofascore, Eriksen attempted just 36 passes with a success rate of 78 per cent.

The 32-year-old was also weak in the duels, winning just two of his six attempts. He lost possession of the ball 17 times.

Eriksen was subbed off in the 68th minute, finishing the game with a Sofascore rating of 6.9.

The Dane has also struggled at club level, failing to start any game under Erik ten Hag so far this season.

The United gaffer opted to trust 20-year-old Toby Collyer over the experienced midfielder after taking off Casemiro against Liverpool last weekend.

Despite falling down the pecking order, Eriksen, who attracted interest from Ajax, is going nowhere this summer, as per his agent. The ex-Tottenham Hotspur star has entered the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and will be free to depart at the end of the campaign.
