Christian Pulisic, Sophia Smith nominated for CONCACAF Player of the Year awards

Key leaders of both the U.S. men’s and women’s national teams have been nominated for CONCACAF’s Player of the Year awards.

Christian Pulisic and Sophia Smith are among 12 nominees for CONCACAF Men’s and Women’s Player of the Year awards for 2023-24. Each award will receive 100 votes apiece from national team’s head coaches, captains, and a total amount of fan votes.

The player with the most fan votes will receive 4 votes in the overall voting process, while second place will receive 3 votes, and third place will receive 2 votes (regardless of the total amount of online votes).

Pulisic featured in 15 USMNT matches since January 1, 2023, scoring eight goals and registering four assists. The 25-year-old helped the USMNT repeat as CONCACAF Nations League winners on two occasions (2023, 2024).

At club level, Pulisic enjoyed a stellar first season with Serie A side AC Milan, scoring 15 goals and adding 11 assists in 50 combined appearances. The Rossoneri sealed a top-four finish in Italy’s top-flight, returning to the UEFA Champions League this fall.

Smith made 23 USWNT appearances dating back to last year, scoring eight goals for her county. The Portland Thorns star has remained a star for club and country, earning 50 international caps in total since her 2020 debut.
