Cincinnati Bengals Release Seasoned Punter from Roster

Bengals Will Open Season In First-Time Uniforms

The Cincinnati Bengals haven’t been as good as expected this season, but one of their special teamers has thrived.

Rookie P Ryan Rehkow has been very impressive, leading the league in both net punting average (49.7) and gross punting average (58.4).

That’s why they didn’t hesitate to waive P Brad Robbins.

Rehkow impressed during the win over the Carolina Panthers, logging three punts for a 56.7 yard average and landing one of them inside the 10-yard line.

The Bengals activated Robbins from IR on Monday.

The Bengals also designated DE Myles Murphy to return, opening his 21-day window for his return.

By doing this, the Bengals could bring Robbins back to the team at some point in the season if they chose to do so.

Robbins suffered a hip flexor injury in the offseason, and Rehkow made the most of the opportunity to prove that he could be their guy.

Needless to say, they will still hope that the offense gets on a roll and he doesn’t need to work as often as he’s done in the first month of the season.

The Bengals are sitting on a 1-3 record and haven’t lived up to the expectations.

But if someone can get hot and rally to get back into the playoff picture, it’s definitely Joe Burrow.
