The Los Angeles Dodgers are continuing to cruise in first place despite a mediocre couple of months as the team navigates a slew of injuries to its roster that has put hundreds of millions of dollars on the IL for much of this season.

The team has finally gotten some good news on future Hall-of-Famer Clayton Kershaw, who has yet to pitch this season, as he and another big-name starting pitcher are ready to get back on the mound very soon.

Manager Dave Roberts recently said that Kershaw is coming off the injured list to make his season debut on Thursday, while All-Star Tyler Glasnow will also return from his injury to start on Wednesday.

LA has done an admirable job patching things together in the absence of a pair of aces, but getting Kershaw and Glasnow back will help this team start to look like the juggernaut it was built to be.

Kershaw hasn’t been the workhorse he was early in his career for quite some time, but he is still one of the best pitchers in the game and the Dodgers have done a great job managing his workload in recent years.

There was no need to rush him back given the organizational depth in the rotation, and now the Dodgers are adding two aces back into the mix at the trade deadline while the rest of the league will be battling against one another on the open market.

We’ll see if Kershaw can pick up right where he left off last season when he posted a 2.46 ERA.
