Coach Criticizes Xavier Worthy’s Performance in Specific Aspect of His Game

Xavier Worthy Says Coach Called This Part Of His Game 'Trash'

Even though the Kansas City Chiefs won their second straight Super Bowl championship and third in five seasons, their wide receiver room was considered lackluster and unproven.

It’s a different story this season, as their wide receiver corps is significantly better.

A big reason for that is rookie speedster Xavier Worthy, who had a strong NFL debut with 47 yards and a touchdown on two receptions, as well as 21 yards rushing and a touchdown on an end-around.

Yet life in the NFL, especially for rookies, is all about having a growth mindset, and according to Worthy, a coach told him he needs to improve his touchdown celebration.

“Yeah, coach said my celebration was trash, but I don’t think coach be on TikTok for real,” Worthy said, via the Chiefs on X.

Worthy, who set an NFL Scouting Combine record by running the 40-yard dash in 4.21 seconds, adds an element of downfield speed the Chiefs haven’t had since they traded Tyreek Hill prior to the 2022 season.

Kansas City also added Marquise Brown this offseason, and reunited with JuJu Smith-Schuster, a key part of their 2022 squad, to beef up their passing game.

Rashee Rice, who had a solid rookie season in 2023, caught seven passes for 103 yards in the narrow Week 1 victory against the Baltimore Ravens.

It is scary for the rest of the league to think that the NFL’s reigning dynasty has gotten even better and added someone in Worthy who may be a future Pro Bowler.

Kansas City thought so highly of Worthy that they traded a first-, third- and seventh-round pick to the Buffalo Bills to move up to the No. 28 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to nab the University of Texas product.
