It is always fascinating to watch a former player pick the brain of a sports media personality.
That’s exactly what Super Bowl champion Julian Edelman did recently with Colin Cowherd on “Games with Names.”
Edelman asked the FOX Sports host, a native of Washington, who would be on his Mount Rushmore of Seattle Seahawks players.
“Steve Largent … I love Cortez Kennedy … I think Shaun Alexander has to be on it … I’d put Richard [Sherman] … He made so many big plays as a cornerback,” Cowherd said.
It is very hard to leave Largent off of this list.
The seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver was a member of the NFL’s 100th Anniversary Team and held many major NFL receiving records when he retired in 1989, including career receptions, career receiving yards and career touchdown catches.
Kennedy played over a decade with Seattle (1990-2000) and became an eight-time Pro-Bowler while being the anchor of the defensive line.
The 1992 NFL Defensive Player of the Year recorded 58.0 sacks and 669 total tackles in his career.
Alexander is one of the franchise’s best offensive players in history.
The running back, who was the 2005 NFL MVP, was named to the NFL’s 2000s All-Decade Team after recording five consecutive 1,100-yard seasons from 2001-05.
In his MVP season, he recorded over 1,900 scrimmage yards and 28 total touchdowns.
Sherman is one of the best NFL defenders of the past 15 years.
In seven seasons with Seattle, he made four Pro Bowls and provided head coach Pete Carroll with a lockdown defender on the boundary.
The 2010s All-Decade Team member helped Seattle win its first Super Bowl in the 2013 season after leading the league with eight interceptions.
