There is a developing story on Lombardi Avenue this week.
Former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh has been seen at Packers practice recently.
He and Packers head coach Matt LaFleur have a very strong relationship going back to their Central Michigan days, and LaFleur clearly sees an opportunity for his good friend, who also happens to be one of the league’s best defensive minds, to help out the team.
Fox Sports host Colin Cowherd has a theory for why LaFleur brought Saleh in as a consultant, and it doesn’t have to do with their history together.
“Green Bay doesn’t do stuff like this…But LaFleur and Robert Saleh have a through line, Aaron Rodgers,” Cowherd said Thursday on The Herd.

Before Saleh was named head coach in New York, he was in charge of the best defense in the league out in the Bay Area with the 49ers.
Now, Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley has done a great job with this unit so far this season, which is why there is no reason for Saleh to help out on that side of things.
Saleh, being one of the best defensive coaches, is there to look at Green Bay’s offense to help them figure out how to combat other good defenses.
This is a great, outside-the-box move by LaFleur and Co. with no relation to Rodgers.
