Colin Cowherd is never one to shy away from a hot take, as the media giant loves to stir the pot and get people riled up.

His takes lately have been more thought out and reasonable than in years past, and he recently shared his thoughts on San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk regarding his current contract situation.

On a recent episode of his podcast featuring John Middlekauff, Cowherd heaped praise upon the star receiver and called him a top five or six receiving talent in the league before raising questions about his contract situation, saying his knock on Aiyuk is “the most important person with the Niners is the brain of Kyle Shanahan, then the legs of Christian McCaffrey, the pass rush of (Nick) Bosa, I would say the versatility of Deebo (Samuel), and then the protection of Trent Williams. I also think (George) Kittle is a culture setter with his physical style of play. So I’m at like six people, and they drafted two receivers. How valuable is he?”

It’s a fair point, as this team cannot simply pay everybody even though they have a minimum-wage quarterback at the moment with Brock Purdy.

Drafting Ricky Pearsall in the first round didn’t do anything to quiet the Aiyuk trade rumors, but the team finds itself in a tough spot with so many other star receivers getting record paydays and Aiyuk playing his way into a similar deal.

It’s unclear how this situation gets resolved, but it has to one way or another, and it has to happen soon.
