This time last week, Auburn sported a gaudy 17-4 (6-2 SEC) record and great underlying metrics because of its up-tempo style and propensity for blowing out lesser opponents. But the Tigers were still in search of an elusive Quad 1 win after suffering road losses against Alabama and Mississippi State.

Auburn was fighting the perception that it may be a gimmicky team built to overrun the weak but lacking the order required to get big wins. The Tigers laid those concerns to rest over their past two games.

A 91-77 win at Ole Miss and Wednesday night’s 99-81 beatdown of Alabama gave Auburn its first two Quad 1 wins of the season and showed its controlled chaos can deliver results even in big spots. That’s why the Tigers are surging in this week’s Power Rankings.

On the flip side, there is Wisconsin, which is spiraling amid three straight losses, including a head-scratching defeat at Michigan on Wednesday. Power rankings are meant to be subject to the whims of the moment. While the Badgers’ overall body of work remains solid, they are on the outside looking in this week as they attempt to regroup for the final month of the regular season.

With that, here are the latest CBS Sports power rankings.
