Ever since superstar quarterback Andrew Luck shockingly announced his retirement at 29 while still very much an elite quarterback in the NFL, the Indianapolis Colts have struggled to find his long-term successor under center, as it has been a revolving door of past-their-prime quarterbacks coming and going.
Although the Colts were thought to have potentially struck gold with big-name quarterbacks like Philip Rivers and Matt Ryan after Luck’s retirement, both veterans failed to pan out in Indianapolis, as Rivers lasted one year and Ryan was well past his prime and struggled during his short stint with the team.
Fortunately for Indianapolis, there finally seems to be some hope for the future, with the team drafting Florida Gators star Anthony Richardson last year to presumably be their Week 1 starter.
Although plenty of critics chimed in about Richardson and doubted his ability to be a star in the NFL, the former Florida quarterback made the transition seamlessly and proved his worth early on for Indianapolis.
However, a season-ending shoulder injury prevented the Colts from getting a full year out of Richardson, but he’s now healthy and earning high praise from his teammates, like linebacker E.J. Speed, who talked about him on “Up & Adams.”
“He’s so humble. I think this season we’re gonna really be able to see who he his,” Speed said.

A humble quarterback with the kind of skills that Richardson possesses is precisely what the Colts need to turn this struggling franchise’s fortunes around.
If Richardson can stay healthy and continue to be productive on the field, the immediate future for the Colts could be very bright indeed.
