Gaiteros de Zulia (SPB) signed 31-year old American guard A.J. English (192cm-86kg-1992, college: Iona). English played last season at Zastal in Polish OBL league. In 7 games he had 13.6ppg, 2.1rpg and 4.7apg. He also played 1 game in European North Basketball League where he recorded 10 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
English has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
He is quite experienced player. English has played in eight different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Dominican Republic (San Lazaro), France (Limoges CSP Elite), Germany (MBC and Skyliners), Greece (Lavrio), Iraq (Al Shurtah, Al-Hashd and Dijlah), Italy, Poland (Legia and HydroTruck) and The Basketball Tournament (Gael Nation and Program for Autism). His team won MAAC Tournament in 2013, 2015 and 2016.
English graduated from Iona College in 2016 and it will be his ninth season as a professional player.
