Mersin BBGSK, the newcomer of BSL, agreed terms with experienced 34-year old Mexican international guard Francisco Cruz (191cm-95kg-1989, college: Wyoming) for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Cruz played last season at Manisa BBSK in the BSL.
He has been a member of the Mexican international program for several years, playing for the Mexican senior team since 2013 and previously for the University National Team in 2011. Cruz represented Mexico at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla (Colombia) six years ago, with impressive stats of 15.3ppg, 4.5rpg, 2.0apg, 1.3spg, FGP: 34.6%, 3PT: 32.4%, FT: 70.0%.
Cruz is an experienced player, having played in six different countries on three different continents (Europe, Latin America, and North America). His list of past achievements includes being voted to Eurobasket.com All-Turkish League Honorable Mention in 2023. He graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2012 and this upcoming season will mark his 13th as a professional player.
His professional experience includes playing in Argentina (Olimpico), Latvia (VEF Riga), Lithuania (Rytas), Spain (Fuenlabrada), Mexico (Halcones Rojos, Guinda, and Pioneros), and Turkey (Tofas, Manisa, and Afyon). He was part of the Mexican LNBP Regular Season winning team in 2014 and 2015.
