SK Slavia Praha (NBL) tabbed 25-year old British-Jamaican international 184cm point guard Jelani Watson-Gayle (college: Fresno Pacific) for new season. Watson-Gayle is the second foreign player in the roster as Slovakian David Novak signed here earlier.
He played most recently at Brussels Basketball in Belgian Pro Basketball League. In 23 BNXT League games he averaged 9.9ppg, 2.4rpg and 2.0apg last season.
His team won SIAC Tournament in 2019 and 2020.
The previous (2023) summer he played at Sea Bears (CEBL) in Canadian league where in 20 games he had 12.8ppg, 3.6rpg and 3.4apg in 2023 year.
He has been also a member of British international program for some years. He has regularly played for British senior team since 2023 and previously for U16 National Team back in 2014.
Watson-Gayle represented United Kingdom at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) U20 in Chemnitz (Germany) six years ago. His stats at that event were 7 games: 7.9ppg, 3.6rpg, 3.1apg, FGP: 48.7%, 3PT: 13.6%, FT: 66.7%.
He has played also professionally in United Kingdom (Flyers).
Among many awards he was voted USBasket.com All-CEBL Sixth Man of the Year in 2023.
