Defending champion AS Monaco Basket (Betclic ELITE ProA) landed 27-year old Greek international 220cm center Georgios Papagiannis for the new season. Papagiannis played most recently at Fenerbahce in the Turkish BSL league. In 21 games, he averaged 9.9ppg, 5.7rpg, 1.1apg, and 1.0bpg last season. He helped them win the league title despite finishing the regular season in second place. Papagiannis also played 38 games in the Euroleague, where he had 5.7ppg and 3.1rpg. He contributed to his team making it to the Euroleague Final Four.
In 2016, he was drafted by the Phoenix Suns (NBA) in the first round (13th overall).
Papagiannis has been a member of the Greek international program for several years. He has regularly played for the Greek senior team since 2017 and previously for the U20 National Team back in 2017.
Papagiannis represented Greece at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) seven years ago. His stats at that event were 7 games: 3.4ppg, 2.4rpg.
He has also played professionally in the NBA (Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings), Greece (Peristeri and Panathinaikos), and the NBA G League (Stockton Kings). Papagiannis was voted to the Greek League All-Star Game back in 2019 and 2020.
