Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul (BSL) added to their roster 29-year old American (has also Croatian passport) guard Jaleen Smith (190cm-93kg-1994, college: UNH) for season 2024-25. Smith played last season at Partizan in Serbian KLS league. He managed to play in four leagues in two countries last year (!!!). The team played in three different competitions that year, and he had a chance to explore basketball on different levels. In four KLS games he recorded 9.3ppg and 1.3rpg. Smith helped them to make it to the Serbian League final. He also played 7 games in Euroleague where he averaged 6.7ppg, 1.7rpg, and 1.3apg. Smith also played 18 games in ABA League where he got 7.6ppg, 2.3rpg, 2.3apg, and 1.1spg. The other team he played that season for was Virtus Bologna in Italian Serie A. The team played in three different competitions that year, and he had a chance to explore basketball on different levels. In 9 Italian Serie A games he got 6.7ppg, 1.7rpg, and 1.9apg. He contributed to his team winning the Supercup. Smith also played 13 games in Euroleague where he got 5.3ppg and 1.5rpg.
He represented Croatia at the FIBA Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament in Piraeus (Greece) this year. His stats at that event were 4 games: 9.5ppg, 3.0rpg, 4.5apg, FGP: 50.0%, 3PT: 30.0%.
Smith has played previously professionally in Germany (ALBA Berlin, EnBW Ludwigsburg, and MLP Academics Heidelberg) and NBA Summer League (Phoenix Suns). He was also voted to Eurobasket.com German Bundesliga All-Defensive Team back in 2020 and 2021.
He won the German Bundesliga championship title in 2022.
Smith graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2017 and it will be his eighth season as a professional player.
