Eighth-ranked Dutch Groningen (2-6) was very close to win a game against third ranked Belgian Spirou Charleroi (6-2) on Friday. Spirou Charleroi managed to secure only a two-point victory, 76-74. However, their fans expected a much easier game. Charleroi shot 33 for 46 from the free-throw line, while Groningen only scored five points from the stripe. They outrebounded Groningen 56-33 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Charleroi looked well-organized offensively, handing out 24 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Groningen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Slovenian Bine Prepelic (200-2001) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. One of the most interesting games of round 11 was a derby match between two teams from Belgium. Fifth ranked Circus Brussels won against visiting Kortrijk (3-7) 91-82. It was a great evening for point guard Alexandre Libert (188-1990) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 5 assists. Jared Ambrose helped add 19 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American guard Brevin Pritzl (191-1996, college: Wisconsin) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Brussels maintains the fifth place with a 5-5 record. Newly promoted Kortrijk keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Leeuwarden. Brussels will play against Den Helder (#10) on the road in the next round, which should be theoretically an easy game. Kortrijk will have a break next round.
BNXT League top team – Belgian Leuven Bears (9-1) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed sixth-ranked Dutch Leeuwarden (3-7) 81-60. It was a quality performance for Tyreke Key who led the winners and scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. James Moors came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for Leeuwarden in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving the starting five for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Leuven Bears. They maintain first place with a 9-1 record. Leeuwarden lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Kortrijk. Leuven will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before the next game.

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Dutch ZZ Leiden (4-4) was smashed on the road by seventh-ranked Belgian Liege Basket (4-4) 94-65 on Friday. Liege made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Liege outrebounded ZZ Leiden 47-19, including a 30-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Liege looked well-organized offensively, handing out 26 assists.
