AO Mykonou (Elite League) added experienced 34-year old Greek ex-international guard Vangelis Mantzaris (196cm-1990) to their roster for the 2024-25 season. Mantzaris played last season at Liofilchem Roseto in the Italian Serie B Nazionale. In 44 games, he recorded 9.7ppg, 5.6rpg, 5.7apg (leader), and 1.4spg, helping his team win the regular season and reach the final. Mantzaris was also voted to the Eurobasket.com All-Italian Serie B Nazionale Honorable Mention team.
Mantzaris has had a successful career, winning the Greek League championship title in 2012, 2015, and 2016. He was selected to the Eurobasket.com Greek A1 League All-Defensive Team in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. In the previous summer of 2023, he played for Panteras in the Venezuelan SPB, averaging 5.5ppg, 2.5rpg, and 4.4apg in 20 games.
Mantzaris has been a key member of the Greek international program, playing for the Greek Senior National Team between 2011 and 2020 and previously for the U20 National Team in 2010. He represented Greece at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) seven years ago.
Throughout his career, Mantzaris has played professionally in Israel, Poland, Russia, Greece, and Spain. He has achieved success in various leagues and was voted to the Eurobasket.com Greek A1 League All-Defensive Team multiple times.
