Defending champion KK Buducnost VOLI Podgorica (Erste Liga) strengthened their roster with addition of 32-year old Slovenian ex-international 216cm center Alen Omic. It is actually his comeback to Podgorica as he has played here before. Omic played most recently at Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenian Liga Nova KBM. He managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year (!!!). In 6 Liga Nova KBM games he recorded 14.7ppg, 7.8rpg and 4.0apg. Omic helped them to win the league title. Great season indeed as he was awarded Eurobasket.com All-Slovenian League Finals MVP. He also played 9 games in ABA League where he averaged 12.4ppg, 10.3rpg and 2.3apg. The other team he played that season for was Metropolitans in French Betclic ELITE ProA. In 12 games he had very impressive stats: 15.6ppg, 10.1rpg and 2.6apg. Omic was also voted League Player of the Week.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2015.
Omic was also a member of Slovenian international program for some years. He played for Slovenian Senior National Team between 2014 and 2021 and previously for U20 National Team in 2012.
Omic represented Slovenia at the Qualifications to European Championship (FIBA EuroBasket) 2017 eight years ago. His stats at that event were 6 games: 6.7ppg, 6.0rpg, FGP: 59.3%, FT: 44.4%.
He is a very experienced player. Omic has played also professionally in China (Guangxi), Israel (Hapoel Jerusalem), Italy, Serbia (Crvena zvezda), Spain (Joventut, Unicaja and Gran Canaria), Turkey (Efes) and France (JL Bourg).
Among many awards he received Eurobasket.com All-EuroCup European Player of the Year award back in 2016.
