The ultimate box-office World Series matchup is set to begin on Friday for Game 1 as the New York Yankees take on the Los Angeles Dodgers for the 12th time in the Fall Classic, and the first time since 1981.
There’s not much time left to get your predictions in before the games begin, and 2-time Cy Young winner Corey Kluber recently joined the party and shared his World Series prediction ahead of Game 1.
While speaking with MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM, Kluber predicted the Yankees would win in seven games and added that the Yankees “getting more looks at the Dodgers’ bullpen arms might make a difference later on.”
It’s a fair point given how much the Dodgers have relied on their bullpen so far in the postseason, routinely deploying full bullpen games and pulling starters Walker Buehler and Yoshinobu Yamamoto early during their respective starts.
It’s not typically a viable long-term strategy, but it has worked well so far and only needs to hold together just a bit longer, though it wouldn’t hurt if the Dodgers could get a bit of length out of their starters in this series.
The Yankees have no shortage of starting pitching and will roll out Gerrit Cole in Game 1, Carlos Rodon in Game 2, Clarke Schmidt in Game 3, and have multiple viable options for Game 4 as well.
Baseball fans couldn’t ask for a bigger matchup with two $300+ million payrolls from the two biggest markets squaring off for the first time in the Fall Classic in over 40 years with MVP winners all over the place.
