Crystal Palace set to make Roy Hodgson sack decision with multiple candidates lined up including Steve Cooper and Julen Lopetegui

Crystal Palace set to make Roy Hodgson sack decision with multiple candidates lined up including Steve Cooper and Julen Lopetegui

Crystal Palace are poised to end Roy Hodgson’s second stint as their head coach following the Eagles’ poor run of form.

Whether Hodgson leaves before Monday’s match against Everton is uncertain, but a decision has been reached to initiate a change before the season concludes due to significant dissatisfaction among the supporters, per the Daily Mail.

Initially, Chairman Steve Parish aimed to retain Hodgson until the summer. However, the veteran manager’s future at Selhurst Park has been in limbo for several weeks due to a string of just three wins in 19 matches across all competitions.

Discussions are currently ongoing regarding Hodgson’s replacement. Mail Sport disclosed on February 7 that Palace had shown interest in former Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Olivier Glasner.

Palace’s recent form has been disappointing, highlighted by their defeat at home to Chelsea on Monday night. Co-owner John Textor is reportedly advocating for Glasner’s qualities and would support his appointment.

Glasner initially engaged in discussions with key Eagles officials last summer when the club explored alternatives to Hodgson. Despite this, Hodgson was ultimately offered a new 12-month contract.

Steve Cooper, Julen Lopetegui, and Kieran McKenna were all top candidates for the club, but they are believed to be hesitant to take on the role at this time. Parish has conversed with his fellow owners to deliberate on Hodgson’s future and potential replacements.
