Being that the NFL is in the middle of the summer, sports networks that cover the league have to fill the hourly time slot that they have been given. There just isn’t much to talk about while players and teams are on break in July. So, while on ESPN’s Get Up, former Super Bowl champion Damien Woody recently gave his list of the five quarterbacks in the NFL today.

“Mahomes obviously No. 1, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow…I’m a big Matt Stafford guy…Dak Prescott is a top-five quarterback in this league,” Woody stated.

It is extremely difficult to argue against Mahomes being the best quarterback in the league. The two-time MVP has won three Super Bowls before his 29th birthday. His arm talent and ability to carry his team are qualities that not a lot of other quarterbacks possess.

Josh Allen could very well be the closest thing to Brett Favre in today’s NFL. The two-time Pro-Bowler is a gunslinger who is willing to take risks to guide his team to victory. He has also guided a once-losing franchise in the Bills to five consecutive playoff appearances.

Joe Burrow has made the Bengals a prominent team again. In his first full year starting in 2021, he took them to their first Super Bowl since 1988. When healthy, he is one of the best overall players in the league.

Despite now being 36 years of age, Matt Stafford is still a great quarterback. The Super Bowl champion, like every player on Woody’s list, has an unbelievable arm and can use it to put the Rams on his back.

Finally, Dak Prescott turned in arguably the best season of his career after leading the league in touchdown passes with 36. Entering a contract year, Prescott has guided the Cowboys to three consecutive 12-win seasons and proven himself to be an elite playmaker both in and out of the pocket.
