Dan Burn discusses his future plans with Newcastle United

Dan Burn opens up about his long-term future at Newcastle United

Newcastle Star Dan Burn Desires to Finish his Career at the Magpies

Newcastle star Dan Burn has opened up about his long-term plans, expressing his wish to end his career with the Magpies. Ever since his move from Brighton in January 2022, Burn has been a dependable presence in defence for Newcastle United. His leadership qualities, coupled with his impressive 6’7″ stature, have endeared him to the fans at his hometown club.

Under the guidance of manager Eddie Howe, Burn has played a crucial role in Newcastle’s resurgence, aiding the team in securing a top-four finish in the 2022-2023 Premier League season and qualifying for the Champions League after a two-decade absence.

Initially, Burn’s contract with the club was set to expire in the summer of 2025, but Newcastle had the option to extend it by another year. The club exercised that option in October, ensuring that the defender will remain with them at least until the summer of 2026.

In an interview with iNews, Burn affirmed his desire to see out his playing days at Newcastle, stating, “I’d love to finish my career here. We’ve just got to wait and see on that, we’ve got a lot of very good players here and we’re going in that upward trajectory so you’ve got to keep trying to go for as long as you can. I want to play, and I do believe I can be playing in this team.”

Throughout the current season, Burn has been a standout performer for the club, forming a solid partnership at the back with Fabian Schar in the absence of Sven Botman. It is rumored that manager Eddie Howe holds Burn in high regard and is advocating for an extension of his contract.

However, Newcastle has been linked with a move for Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi, raising questions about Burn’s future at the club. Should the Magpies secure Guehi’s transfer, it could potentially impact Burn’s long-term position in the Newcastle side.
