Dante Polvara to be out for extended period due to torn hamstring injury

Dante Polvara sidelined several months with torn hamstring

Dante Polvara enjoyed a breakout 2023-24 campaign with Scottish side Aberdeen, but unfortunately will miss most of the upcoming season through injury.

Polvara is expected to miss three-to-four months due to a torn hamstring he suffered in training, the club announced Friday. The 24-year-old was scheduled to kick off his competitive schedule on Saturday in Scottish League Cup action, but instead will have to wait several months for his return.

“We’re clearly all very disappointed for Dante, particularly as he had made such a positive impression during pre-season”, said Dons boss Jimmy Thelin.

“He’s an important player for us to lose at such an early stage in our season but he will have the full support of everyone at the Club and I’m sure he will come back stronger from this setback.”

Polvara delivered a productive campaign at Aberdeen last season, scoring four goals and adding five assists in 40 combined appearances. He originally joined Aberdeen in 2022, but only made six appearances that season before spending time on loan at USL side Charleston Battery.

A former NYCFC academy player, Polvara excelled at Georgetown University, winning the Mac Hermann trophy once and earning Big East Midfielder of the Year honors twice.

Aberdeen will have three additional League Cup group stage matches before opening its Premiership schedule on August 5 against St. Johnstone.
