The National Football League is a quarterback’s league, and having a good passer usually translates to having a good offense.

Nonetheless, it goes without saying that those quarterbacks also need someone to throw the football to.

With few exceptions, such as Aaron Rodgers, quarterbacks struggle without a good wide receivers corps.

That’s why CB Darius Slay just can’t fathom why Amari Cooper just doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Talking on The Green Light with Chris Long, the Philadelphia Eagles star stated that Cooper was the most underappreciated player in the league, urging the Cleveland Browns to give him the money he’s earned (via Around the NFL):

“I really be thinking he’s the most underappreciated receiver in the league,” Slay said.”I’m seeing right now that Cleveland don’t want to pay him, they need to pay that man that money.”

Cooper has never had an ideal quarterback situation, as even when he was with the Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott was hurt or fell short in crucial moments.

He held out of mandatory minicamp as he looks to get a new deal, as he’s about to enter the final year of a five-year contract worth $100 million.

The Browns gave Jerry Jeudy a new contract after trading for him, so it only makes sense that they also double down on Cooper, who’s expected to be the No. 1 option for their passing game.

With Ken Dorsey in town, Deshaun Watson should be asked to throw the ball early and often, and they can’t afford to have their best pass-catcher disgruntled there.

Whether they’ll pay him what they need to pay him remains to be seen, but it’s nice to see that even his opponents acknowledge his talents.
