Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham has voiced his disagreement with Anthony Davis’ assessment of Game 2 loss against the Denver Nuggets.
Despite Davis’ comments about stretches of confusion on both ends of the floor, Ham believes the team’s issues were not due to lack of organization but rather the frustration of plays not unfolding as expected.
Ham emphasized the Lakers’ commitment to efficiency and organization across all aspects of their game preparation.
He expressed confidence in his coaching staff’s ability to maintain focus and structure, stating, “I think I have incredible knowledge and focus all along my staff. We pride ourselves — whether it’s practice, shootarounds, film sessions, games, everything — we pride ourselves on being highly efficient and organized.”
While acknowledging the emotional nature of basketball and the frustration that can arise from unexpected outcomes, Ham maintained his stance that the Lakers were well-prepared and organized heading into Game 2.
He remarked, “So I just chalk that up to being frustrated. It’s an emotional game, with the way it ended and all of that. But I would agree to disagree on that one.”
The Lakers’ collapse in Game 2 saw them squander a 20-point third quarter lead, allowing the Nuggets to claw back and secure a narrow victory.
Despite strong performances from Davis and LeBron James, the Lakers struggled to contain Denver’s collective effort, led by Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic.
As the series shifts to Los Angeles for Game 3, the Lakers find themselves in a must-win situation, trailing 0-2 against the defending champions.
