David Silva of Manchester City Criticizes Arsenal’s Mindset Following Draw at Etihad Stadium

Bernardo Silva Arsenal

Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has pointed out the difference between Liverpool and Arsenal, indicating that the Gunners do not confront the Cityzens directly and lack the winning mentality that comes with earning major trophies. Silva’s frustration with Arsenal was evident during their recent encounter, as he appeared to gesture towards their lack of silverware during a heated exchange.

Arsenal and Manchester City Play Our Entertaining Draw

Premier League contenders Arsenal faced defending champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, September 22. The hosts made a strong start to the game by taking an early lead just nine minutes in. They had several chances to extend their advantage over Mikel Arteta’s team.

Fortunately for Arsenal, Manchester City failed to capitalize on their opportunities and conceded a goal from a Riccardo Calafiori strike in the 22nd minute. Gabriel Magalhaes then scored from a corner in the first minute of first-half injury time, giving Arsenal a 2-1 lead. However, the first half ended on a sour note for Arteta’s side as Leandro Trossard was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

Playing with 10 men in the second half, Arsenal adopted a more defensive approach, closing down space for Manchester City in dangerous areas. Despite their efforts, John Stones scored from a deflection in the eighth minute of added time, resulting in a 2-2 draw.

Bernardo Silva Explains Difference Between Arsenal and Liverpool

Silva is no stranger to fierce and tactical battles, but he seemed to anticipate a more open game on Sunday — a style that was common during City’s title clashes with Liverpool.

When comparing Liverpool and Arsenal, the Portuguese player told TNT Sports (via The Daily Mail):

Well, perhaps because Liverpool has already won the Premier League and Arsenal hasn’t. Liverpool at that time had also won a Champions League, while Arsenal hasn’t.

Liverpool always faced us head-on, to win matches. From that perspective, our games against Arsenal haven’t been like the matches against Liverpool were, and still are.”

Following Sunday’s result, Arsenal (11 points) sits in fourth place in the Premier League standings, while Liverpool (12 points) has moved up to second place.
