The atmosphere was charged for Yamal, who was greeted with hostility from the Madrid crowd, leading to speculation about how it affected his performance. Barcelona’s assistant coach, Marcus Sorg, who filled in for suspended head coach Hansi Flick, noted Yamal is still adjusting after recovering from a groin injury and that he requires time to regain his form.
In the match itself, Madrid displayed a solid defensive effort against Yamal, with Álvaro Carreras effectively containing him. Sorg emphasized the importance of being patient with the young player, stating, “He’s only 18 and coming back from an injury; we need to support him as he finds his rhythm again.”
