De Minaur wins 18 games in a row at U.S. Open

Alex de Minaur extended an incredible streak of 18 consecutive wins when he took the first set against Jordan Thompson during their U.S. Open fourth-round match on Monday evening. De Minaur ultimately won the match 6-0, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, after winning the final 12 games of his third-round match against Dan Evans.

The world No. 10 defeated Evans in the final two sets, achieving a 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-0, 6-0 victory in the previous round. De Minaur expressed his satisfaction with the strong start to the match against Thompson, acknowledging the added pressure that comes with winning sets 6-0.

De Minaur stated, “I couldn’t have asked for a better start today and I think it was important. Yeah, (I) can’t remember the last time I won 18 games in a row.” The 25-year-old player has now reached the quarterfinals at a third consecutive Grand Slam, following previous appearances at the French Open and Wimbledon. He is set to face Jack Draper in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
