In the 2023-24 season, the Sacramento Kings finished with a record of 46-36. Unfortunately, they did not make the postseason and were eliminated in the play-in tournament. This offseason, they made a significant addition by bringing in veteran small forward DeMar DeRozan to join forces with De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis. The Kings are aiming to have a strong comeback season in 2024-25 and secure a spot in the playoffs.
De’Aaron Fox is recognized as one of the top point guards in the NBA and is coming off another impressive season. In 74 games last year, Fox had career-high averages of 26.6 points and 2.0 steals per game. He also contributed 4.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game in the 2023-24 season. According to ESPN insider Shams Charania, Fox declined a three-year, $165 million max extension. The talented point guard is hopeful of landing an even larger contract in the 2025 offseason.

The Kings selected De’Aaron Fox out of Kentucky with the fifth overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft. The 26-year-old is entering his 8th season with Sacramento and has played in 469 career games with 455 starts. Throughout his career, Fox has maintained averages of 21.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. Over the last two seasons, he has been posting impressive numbers of 25 points, four rebounds, and at least five assists per game. Fox earned his first all-star selection in the 2022-23 season.
Recently, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Kings offered Fox a three-year, $165 million max extension. However, Fox turned down the deal in anticipation of securing a larger contract in 2025. Currently in the fourth season of a five-year, $163 million deal with the Kings, Fox chose to bet on himself and aim for a more lucrative deal after the 2024-25 season. Sacramento will kick off their regular season at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
