The R&A’s website refers to them as debutants, of which there are 37 in the 2024 field. This year marks the 152nd Open Championship, with Royal Troon hosting for the 10th time.
The total field consists of 158 golfers teeing off starting on July 18. This is only the third time since 1995 that the field has exceeded 156 players.
