Dimitar Berbatov urges Rasmus Hojlund to be more assertive and confident in dealings with teammates – Manchester United News and Transfer Updates

Rasmus Hojlund shows he is a "proper striker" in sublime performance vs. Brentford - Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has advised Rasmus Hojlund to be “angry” and demand more of his teammates.

Since he signed for United last summer from Serie A outfit Atalanta, Hojlund has managed a decent return of 18 goals in 49 appearances.

He missed the first five games of the season with a hamstring injury but has since found the back of the net twice in six appearances.

His latest strike was a crucial one – a winning goal for United in their brilliant comeback win against Brentford last weekend.

Hojlund has yet to play a full 90 minutes this season, presumably because he is still building up his match fitness after a lengthy period on the sidelines.

Indeed, during the October international break, the 21-year-old admitted that he is still not ready to feature for 90 minutes.

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, Berbatov claimed that for Hojlund to advance to the next level and become a truly top-class striker, the Dane must become more aggressive with his on-field requests.

Berbatov said about the current United n.o 9, “I think as a striker he needs to be more demanding and arguing. Not being so nice and just pushing the buttons of some of the players around him.”

“Like give me the ball, asking for the ball, when the ball is not coming because I can see that he was doing some runs behind the defence and then nobody was seeing him.”

Berbatov added, “That should make you angry, you have a point to be angry after this one.”

Hojlund and his teammates return to action on Thursday, when they meet Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.

Erik ten Hag will undoubtedly be hoping for a big victory after United picked up just two points in their opening two matches of the competition.
