They’re not playing at the maximum of their abilities, but they’re getting the job done and now that the knockout stage is here, you can bet that Lionel Messi and the rest of the crew will be focused on defending their title.
Standing in their way is Ecuador, who finished second in Group B with a 1-1-1 record. They were able to fend off Mexico to advance to the knockout stage, and they’re looking to make a big statement by taking out the champions. They may have been flying under the radar, but now it’s time for them to see if they can win with the eyes of the world upon them.
