Discussion and Match Thread for Matchday 2 of the 2024 Copa América Quarterfinals

2024 Copa América Quarterfinals, Matchday 2: Match thread and discussion

It’s the second day of the 2024 Copa America quarterfinals, and we will see an American on the sidelines. Jesse Marsch will lead Canada against Venezuela this evening in a quarterfinal matchup that appeared unlikely at the start of the tournament.

In Group A play, Canada scored 1 goal, and that was enough to finish in second place ahead of Chile and Peru. The only of the 2026 World Cup co-hosts to advance to the knockout stage, Canada will now need to prove that they can score some goals.

Venezuela may be one of the shocks of the tournament, winning their group with a perfect 3-0-0 record. They advance into the quarterfinal with a ton of confidence, and they’ll be looking to continue to score a bunch of goals and send Canada home.
