Novak Djokovic is uncertain about participating in any future Olympics post the 2024 Games in Paris.
Djokovic has previously competed at several Olympic Games, but the upcoming event in Paris may mark his final appearance. Winning a gold medal at the Olympics holds significant importance for him and is considered a top priority alongside winning Grand Slam titles.
Despite his numerous achievements, the prestigious gold medal at the Olympics has eluded Djokovic so far, making it a coveted prize for him. Although he has secured a bronze medal in the past, the desire for the elusive gold medal remains.
This year’s Olympic Games could be his final opportunity to achieve this milestone, as he is uncertain about his participation in future editions. The next Olympic Games would be in 2028, when Djokovic would be 40 years old, presenting uncertainties about his health and competitive status at that stage.
“I believe that everything is possible in life, and I wouldn’t be participating in the Olympic Games if I didn’t think it was possible. You always have to maintain that belief.”
“The Olympic Games hold immense historical and sporting significance as one of the oldest and most prestigious events. Representing Serbia at the Olympics is a tremendous honor.”
Despite his performance not being up to par this year, Djokovic is aiming for a strong showing at the upcoming Games. With no confirmed plans beyond this event, the focus is entirely on the approaching Olympic Games for him.
“I hope to be in peak health and form and deliver my best tennis because the opportunity to compete in the Olympic Games is rare and precious. The quadrennial nature of the event adds to its significance.”
“While I had expressed a desire to compete until the LA Olympic Games, the future is uncertain, and I will make the most of this current opportunity.”
